Crescent: A Lyrical Lifestyle in Minimalist Forms

The Crescent design, created by Hsin-Ting Weng, is a residential interior design that combines minimalist forms with a lyrical ambiance. Inspired by the idea of making sound tangible, the design features an arc that slithers through the living space, creating a suspended crescent at its core. This arc not only serves as a visual element but also houses most of the acoustic equipment, providing the owner with an immersive audio-visual experience.

One of the unique features of the Crescent design is the use of mineral paints. These paints are not only applied to the ceilings and floors but also continuously painted on the walls and doors, creating a continuum of functional storage. The properties of mineral paints contribute to a primal and modest ambiance, reminiscent of the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.

The interior design of the Crescent project is characterized by minimal forms and low-saturated color tones, creating a sense of poise and tranquility. The marble paneling extends from the TV wall to the flooring, ensuring the placement of audio devices. The design also incorporates ample storage space, making it both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

The installation of the visual-audio devices was a creative and technical challenge for the design team. The goal was to congregate all the wirings and enclose them in the slender crescent shape seamlessly. This required meticulous planning and execution to achieve a clean and streamlined look.

The Crescent design was completed in November 2021 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. It has received recognition for its innovative approach and creative ingenuity. The design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
